A double-ended bolt, also frequently referred to as a double-end stud bolt, is a headless fastener that features threading on both ends of a central shank. While traditional bolts have a fixed head (like a hex or pan head) at one end, these components are designed to accept a nut on both sides or have one end threaded directly into a tapped hole.

Key Characteristics

• Design: They typically consist of two threaded sections separated by a smooth, unthreaded middle portion (the shank).

• Uniformity: The threads on each end are usually of the same diameter, though the length of the threaded portions can be equal or unequal depending on the specific application.

• Installation: In many setups, one end is permanently or semi-permanently seated into a base material (like an engine block), while the other end uses a nut to secure a second component.

1. Equal-End Studs: These have identical thread lengths on both ends. They are widely used in high-pressure flange connections, such as those found in pipelines or chemical reactors.

3. Double-Ended Hex Bolts: These feature a hex-shaped section in the middle of the shank, allowing a wrench to be used to drive the bolt into a tapped hole or to hold it steady while tightening nuts on the ends.
