JIS S35C is a high-quality medium-carbon steel defined under the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS G4051. It is a versatile "structural" steel, offering a higher strength profile than mild steel while maintaining excellent machinability and response to surface heat treatments.

The "35" in S35C represents the median carbon content of 0.35%. It is a non-alloy steel, meaning it relies on carbon and manganese for its properties rather than expensive alloying elements like chrome or nickel.
