Conical spring washers, most commonly known as Belleville washers, are disc-shaped fasteners designed to provide extremely high spring tension within a very small space. Unlike a standard flat washer, they are shaped like a shallow cone, allowing them to act as a heavy-duty spring when compressed.

How They Work

When a load is applied to a conical washer, it flattens. Because the washer is made of high-strength, heat-treated material, it resists this flattening with a massive amount of counter-force. This makes them significantly more powerful than bowed or wave washers.
