The alloy is engineered to closely match the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of soft lead and soda-lime glasses, as well as specific ceramic materials up to approximately 500 C (930 F). Common industrial applications include soft-glass-to-metal hermetic seals, thermostatic bi-metal strip components, electronic vacuum tubes, specialized lighting electrodes, and cathode-ray tube shadow masks.
