
Alloy Steel Grade F22 and Grade P22 (commonly known as 2 1/4 Chrome 1 Moly) are low-alloy ferritic steels containing 2.25 percent Chromium and 1 percent Molybdenum designed for elevated temperature and high-pressure service.

Material Specifications and Scrap Characteristics
Equivalent Standard Grades: ASTM A182 Grade F22 (Forgings), ASTM A335 Grade P22 (Seamless Pipe), ASTM A213 Grade T22 (Boiler and Heat Exchanger Tubes), ASTM A217 Grade WC9 (Castings), Werkstoff Number 1.7380.
Density: 7.85 grams per cubic centimeter.
Magnetic Response: Fully magnetic.
Typical Scrap Forms: Power piping cutoffs, boiler tubes, superheater tubes, forged flanges, valve bodies, heavy wall fittings, and turning scrap.
Scrap Quality Requirements: Must consist of clean solid scrap, strictly segregated from carbon steel and other alloy chromium grades (such as 1 1/4 Chrome, 5 Chrome, or 9 Chrome), free of dirt, oil, slag, heavy rust, paints, and non-ferrous attachments.
