Engineered for extreme duty cycles, it bridges the gap between standard 3% Cr-Mo steels (like EN40B / 722M24) and high-alloy tool steels. The inclusion of 0.15â0.25% Vanadium paired with high chromium and molybdenum creates fine, heat-stable vanadium and chromium nitrides during nitriding, yielding an exceptionally wear-resistant surface layer alongside a high-strength, tough core (1000â1200+ MPa).

Procurement State: Order bars in the 1.8522 +QT (Quenched & Tempered) condition.
Rough Machining: Machine component leaving $0.5\text{--}1.0\text{ mm}$ finishing stock.
Stress Relieving: Heat to 560°C â 590°C for 2+ hours and slow cool. (Must be at least 30°C higher than the planned nitriding temperature to prevent core softening).
Finish Machining / Grinding: Finish grind or turn to final pre-nitride dimensions.
Nitriding: Perform gas or plasma (ion) nitriding at 500°C â 530°C. Plasma nitriding is highly recommended for high-chromium/vanadium grades to actively clean surface passivations and ensure uniform nitrogen diffusion.
