Product Description

Inconel 718 (UNS N07718 / W.Nr. 2.4668) is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-iron superalloy featuring high yield, tensile, and creep-rupture strength up to 704°C (1300°F). It displays outstanding weldability and resistance to post-weld strain-age cracking, making it the premier alloy for aerospace gas turbines, rocket engines, and oil and gas components.

Mechanical & Physical Properties (Precipitation-Hardened Condition)

  • Density: 8.19 grams per cubic centimeter

  • Melting Range: 1260 to 1336 degrees Celsius

  • Ultimate Tensile Strength: 1240 to 1480 Megapascals

  • Yield Strength (0.2% Offset): 1030 to 1170 Megapascals

  • Elongation at Break: 12 to 20 percent

  • Hardness: 36 to 44 Rockwell C

  • Maximum Service Temperature: 704 degrees Celsius

Scrap Classification & Re-Melting Guidelines

  • Scrap Grade Classification: Premium Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) / Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) quality superalloy charge material.

  • Foundry Forms: Forged ring ends, turbine disc cutoffs, fasteners, structural sheet scrap, heavy turnings, and clean solids.

  • Quality Requirements: Must be strictly isolated from high-cobalt or non-niobium nickel alloys to preserve the exact niobium-to-titanium ratio required for gamma-double-prime phase hardening. Must be free of coatings, oils, dirt, scale, and non-metallic contamination before remelting.
