Product Description

Cold drawn stainless steel pipes (and precision seamless tubing) are manufactured by drawing hot-rolled extruded hollows through a die and over an internal mandrel at room temperature.

This process reshapes the pipe, refines its grain structure, and yields tight dimensional tolerances, high yield strength, and smooth internal and external surface finishes ($Ra < 0.4\ \mu\text{m}$ to $0.8\ \mu\text{m}$).

1. Precision Dimensional Tolerances: Achieves tight outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) tolerances, making it suitable for machining, hydraulic lines, and mechanical sleeves without extensive turning.

2. Superior Surface Finish: Eliminates scale, pitting, and seam imperfections. Often supplied in Bright Annealed (BA) or mechanically polished conditions.

3. Work Hardening & Mechanical Strength: The cold reduction process increases tensile and yield strength, allowing thinner wall profiles for equivalent pressure ratings.

Material Grades & Manufacturing Standards

Heat Treatment Conditions

• Solution Annealed (Pickled): Heated to ~1050C and rapidly quenched to restore corrosion resistance, remove cold-work stress, and homogenize the microstructure.

• Bright Annealed (BA): Annealed in a controlled hydrogen/argon atmosphere furnace, resulting in a mirror-like surface without oxide scale formation.
