Product Description
ASTM A638 660 Type2 is a sub-type specification ofStainless Steel A286, itself a precipitation-hardenable super-alloy based oniron. This specification is already solution and precipitation heat treated at1300-1400 Degree F (704-760 Degree C) for 16 hours, followed by air cooling. The resultinghardness ranges from 248-341 HB. Additionally,ASTM A638 660 Type2can be readily formed, and cold worked, just like other austenitic steels. Moreover, the parts can bemachined using standard methods. The alloy can be readily welded usingtraditional methods, including gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and shieldedmetal arc. Any nickel-based steel can be used as filler metal, but a fillerwire of the same specification is recommended. Also, for optimal results, theweld bead should be raised, and the parts in the annealed condition.
