Common Source Grade Series: AISI/SAE 4100 series (Chrome-Moly), 4300 series (Ni-Cr-Moly), 8600 series (Ni-Cr-Moly), 9300 series (High Ni-Cr-Moly), and ASTM A335/A182 Chrome-Moly grades (P5, P9, P11, P22, P91).
Density: Bulk density varies widely from 1.2 to 2.4 grams per cubic centimeter depending on whether loose, crushed, or briquetted.
Magnetic Response: Fully magnetic.
Typical Scrap Forms: Loose curly turnings, crushed short turnings, machine borings, drill swarf, and compressed briquettes or pucks.
Scrap Quality Requirements: Must be single-grade segregated or alloy-matched lot, free of carbon steel or stainless steel mixing, dry or low moisture (drained of excess cutting fluids/coolants), free of grinding sludge, abrasive wheel dust, shop trash, plastics, free-machining lead/bismuth inclusions, and non-ferrous contaminants.
