Alloy Steel Grade F9 and Grade P9 (commonly known as 9 Chrome 1 Moly) are high-temperature ferritic alloy steels containing 9 percent Chromium and 1 percent Molybdenum.

• Equivalent Standard Grades: ASTM A182 Grade F9 (Forgings), ASTM A335 Grade P9 (Seamless Pipe), ASTM A213 Grade T9 (Heat Exchanger Tubes), ASTM A217 Grade C12 (Castings).

• Density: 7.8 grams per cubic centimeter.

• Magnetic Response: Fully magnetic.

• Typical Scrap Forms: Seamless piping cutoffs, header tubes, boiler tubes, valve bodies, forged flanges, and heavy plate turnings.

• Scrap Quality Requirements: Must be clean solid scrap, segregated from lower chromium grades (such as 2.25 Chrome or 5 Chrome), free of oil, rubber, heavy slag, paint coatings, and non-ferrous attachments.
